It's still early in the season, but it's never too early to look at the standings, especially when you get to look at them in a positive light.

The Bruins are 10-1-1 in their last 12 games, lead the Northeast Division by six points and are a close third for the best mark in the NHL.

After Wednesday night's games, San Jose was leading the NHL with 33 points, followed by the Rangers with 30 and the Bruins with 28. Boston had one game in hand on the Sharks and two on the Rangers.

"We're happy to be where we are in the standings but can't be satisfied," Chuck Kobasew said after the Bruins' wild 7-4 victory over Buffalo on Wednesday night at Boston. "We want to continue to climb. We want to catch those guys."

The way things are going with this team, anything is possible, and the Bruins head into Friday night's home game against Florida 7-0-1 in their last eight and winners of six straight at home.

The Friday game with the Panthers starts a back-to-back that ends with a game in Montreal Saturday night, the fourth game in six nights this week for the Bruins.

BRUINS 7, SABRES 4: This one started out bad for the Bruins, and it took awhile to get better.

The B's gave up a goal just 1:41 in and were down 3-2 after a crazy opening 5:38. But, down 4-2, they rallied for five straight goals and beat the shaky Sabres.

"We never gave up, and that's a credit to our hockey club," Marc Savard said after he had a goal and three assists to lead the onslaught that chased Sabres goalie Ryan Miller from the game.

Chuck Kobasew and Zdeno Chara scored two goals apiece and seven Bruins had multi-point games. David Krejci had a goal and two assists and Phil Kessel had the other goal as the Bruins turned things around after leaving goaltender Manny Fernandez stranded in the early going.
