PLAYER NOTES:

--C Marc Savard had a goal and three assists in Wednesday night's 7-4 win over Buffalo to reach the 600-point plateau for his career. "It's a special night. I didn't think I'd get it all tonight, but it all came tonight and it's special," Savard said. "More important, it's a team victory." Savard scored his second goal in the last 16 games but is 2-14-16 in the last 12 and 1-8-9 in the last four.

--RW Chuck Kobasew moved up to the third line and onto the power play with Marco Sturm out with an injury and had two goals in his 300th NHL game. It was Kobasew's career sixth two-goal game.

--C Patrice Bergeron had two assists, the first producing his 200th NHL point in his 258th game.

--D Matt Hunwick, replacing the injured Andrew Ference, had two assists and is 1-2-3 in the last two games.

--G Manny Fernandez is clearly the backup to Tim Thomas but raised his record to 5-1-1 after surviving a four-goal first period against Buffalo, three of the goals coming in the first 4:58.

--C David Krejci's 1-2-3 Wednesday night was his first points in the last six games.

--LW P.J. Axelsson still doesn't have a goal this season but is playing the left point on the Bruins' second power play unit.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--LW Marco Sturm missed Wednesday night's game with an upper body injury and was listed as day to day.

--D Andrew Ference was placed on injured reserve and Matt Lashoff was recalled from Providence (he didn't dress Wednesday night). Ference is expected to miss at least six weeks with a fractured right tibia suffered Monday.

--D Dennis Wideman was knocked silly by a heavy check in the third period but finished the game and was a plus-3.
